Who listens to WVGS 91.9?

WVGS FM 91.9 “The Buzz,” represents the many musical styles and tastes found on
campus and the 20,000 students within the community. These styles and tastes range from pop, hard rock, techno, rap, reggae, R&B, and country. WVGS serves the cities of Statesboro, Portal, Reidsville, Claxton, Brooklet, and Metter. WVGS is operated 24/7.

What is an underwriter?

As an underwriter for WVGS FM 91.9 you are able to show your support and receive name recognition, within the Georgia Southern community. This is a tax-deductible donation. We are not able to promote underwriters, yet we are able to acknowledge your contribution on the air. Off-air promotions such as WVGS 91.9 website and promotional materials may include your business’s name.

Can’s and Cannot’s of underwriting:

According to FCC regulations, non-commercial educational stations may acknowledge contributions over the air but they may not promote the goods and services of for-profit donors or underwriters. Acceptable “enhanced underwriting” acknowledgements of for-profit donors may include:

• Logograms and slogans that identify but do not promote

•  Location information

• Value-neutral descriptions of a product line or service

• Brand names, trade names, and product service listings

However, such acknowledgements may not interrupt a non-commercial station’s regular programming.

 

Payment for underwriting:

 

Payments can be made in cash, check, or money order. All payments for underwriting must be made upon signature of agreement. Payment plans are not allowed. Pricing information is listed below, and prices and payment may be discussed further.
